The Rochester Arts Council is proud to present ARTigras, the first city wide celebration of the arts. The purpose of ARTigras is to highlight Rochester as an arts destination and to showcase the treasury of artists, arts, and cultural organizations that exist in our city. This event will occour rain or shine.
ARTists Village: At Mayo Park from noon to 7 p.m. This venue includes fine arts, vendors, live performances, and children's activities. Also at Mayo Park are ARTistage - Come prepared to be entertained by local performers including singer-songwriters, storytellers, poets, original improv comedy, dancers, musicians, comedians, and even a magical act. AND! ARTiKids - Children can make Steamroller prints, participate in the Rochester Arts Center's Bubble Generator, watch Dr. Bob Kurland make balloon creations, participate in Nature activities with Jay Maier and his team from Maier Forest and Trees, and presentations from the Children's Museum.
Blues and Barbecue Festival: At the Peace Plaza from 4 - 10:30 p.m. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended. They will be pre-sold and are available through the Rochester Convention & Visitors Bureau. In addition, several downtown Rochester restaurants and businesses will offer ARTigras specials throughout the day. Proceeds will benefit the Rochester Arts Council.
Musical Strollathon Walk: Guided walks at 10 , 11 a.m. and noon from Soldiers Field shelter to the Government Center.A musical Strollathon to raise funds for your favorite arts charity will also be part of the event. Registration is required to participate, but viewing the Strollathon is free. The Strollathon will begin at Soldiers Field and end at the Government Center.
Volunteers are needed for this festival with the Rochester Area Family Y and the Rochester Art Center. |
